This sub-project analyses drivers of conflicts in the management and governance of mountain areas. The work seeks to co-produce and communicate useful knowledge for developing local and landscape scale solutions.

The research is exploring mountain landscape conflicts and identifying solutions within the UNESCO National Heritage area of Laponia, focussing on dependency and inter-connectedness with the adjacent forested landscape. Study of the reindeer husbandry system is used to understand inter-landscape challenges and the potential for collaborative and integrated strategies for transforming governance.
