LANDPATHS is organising two citizens’ juries during the autumn of 2024, one in the coastal landscape of the Nämdö Archipelago and one in the forest landscape in the Voxnadalen biosphere. The responsible researcher for the citizens’ juries is Tim Daw, leader in the sub-project Barriers and opportunities for change, and active at Stockholm University/Stockholm Resilience Centre.
Citizens’ jury in the Nämdö Archipelago
The purpose of the citizens’ jury is that Nämdö Green Archipelago wants the help of residents and visitors to discuss the area’s future development in the work of forming the Nämdö Biosphere Reserve.
The question to be answered by local actors and community representatives during two Saturday meetings in October and November 2024 is “Which challenges for local sustainable development should be prioritized in the planned biosphere area in the Nämdö archipelago?”

Citizens’ jury in Voxnadalen
In cooperation with sub-project Forest landscapes, a citizens’ jury is being organised in the Voxnadalen biosphere area. The citizens’ jury aims to give local residents in Ovanåker, Ljusdal and Bollnäs municipalities the opportunity to discuss how municipally owned forests should be used.
The researchers will study how the citizens’ jury can contribute to discussions and future planning in the polarized forest debate, where uses of the forest for production, recreation and conservation of biological diversity are often pitted against one another.
